Rubber Injection Molding
ABOUT Rubber Injection Molding
Technology: Rubber Injection Molding Services are manufacturing services used to mold rubber parts using high pressure injection molding machines. Rubber Injection molding uses ribbons of uncured rubber which are fed into a feed screw barrel which plasticizes the ribbon. It is then injected into a closed two-piece mold where it cures and is then ejected. In the liquid injection molding process, liquid silicone rubber is mixed with a curing agent which is injected cold into the mold where it is heated and cured under pressure.

Advantages: Rubber injection molding services provide low per piece costs in high volume runs of rubber parts.
  • Good for complex parts
  • The process lends itself to automation
  • No need for preforms
  • Elimination of flash

Limitations of Rubber Injection Molding Services
  • Significant upfront costs in mold making compared with other molding methods
  • Demolding injected silicone rubber can be difficult
  • Economical mainly for high volumes of precision parts

Applications: Rubber injection molding services provide a high volume alternative to other molding methods for
  • Medical devices
  • Electrical bushings/insulators
  • Gaskets, grommets, bellows
