Soldering
ABOUT Soldering
Technology: Soldering Services are low temperature joining services used in electronics manufacturing, jewelry making, plumbing, etc. to attach components to circuit boards, connect jewelry findings, copper tubing, etc. Soldering employs low melt metals to form mechanical bonds between other metals. Soldering is generally defined as a joining process similar to brazing where the melt temperature of the filler material is less than 840°F

Soldering of electronics has reduced much of the lead content originally used to prevent tin whiskers.

Advantages: Soldering services are used extensively for PCB soldering
  • Firms can often offer choices of wave, selective, robotic, and hand soldering depending on the application
  • Knowledgeable and capable of meeting RoHS, etc. requirements

    Limitations of Soldering Services
  • Because of lower temperatures involved, soldering and brazing do not actually fuse the base metal as with welding. Properly designed joints can still be as strong as the base metal, however.

Applications Soldering services are used in electronics assembly
  • Circuit boards
  • Wire tinning
  • High end copper roofing, gutters
  • Automotive radiators
